Though I’m no longer a practicing journalist, you can read a selection of my work below for an idea of my writing style and ability to adapt to multiple voices and audiences. Click on any image or link to open in a new window.

Metro
A collection of my stories for the late, lamented commuter daily, which at its height delivered my work to millions of public transit riders in cities across Canada. My articles typically ran in what editorial staff called “special sections”, devoted to such advertiser-friendly subjects as postsecondary education, personal finance, health, and small business. With one exception, they were always published as written.
The Town Crier/Streeter
Unlike Metro, I was regrettably lax in saving my work for the Town Crier (later Streeter), a community newspaper that once served multiple affluent neighbourhoods in Toronto’s midtown. I attended city council meetings, public development consultations, and local festivals; interviewed residents, business leaders, and politicians; conducted biweekly “streeter” interviews approaching random passersby about issues of the day; covered numerous municipal, provincial, and federal elections; and reviewed plays. And now these three articles are all I have left to show for it.
IT World Canada (ITWC)
I ended my journalism career at this fondly remembered tech trade website/communications firm, where I contributed to events and awards and ran its ITBusiness.ca imprint, explaining how and why businesses across various industries should digitally transform their operations. Unfortunately, by the time I learned the site would be closing it had already removed all images associated with my articles. I have reconstructed the six below to the best of my resources and ability.
- Federal government launches consultations for national data strategy
- Toronto’s Digital Main Street program expanded across Ontario
- Mississauga places digital transformation front and centre with IT Master Plan

IABC/Toronto Communicator
My other notable journalism experience was a volunteer position – helping run, copy edit, and contribute to Communicator, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Toronto chapter’s membership newsletter. Below are PDFs of three issues I edited, from early 2014, 2015, and 2016. My duties (alongside a very helpful editorial team!) included developing themes, soliciting articles, providing feedback, and writing a letter from the editor.
More recently I contributed an article to the November 2025 issue discussing one of the subjects I’ve come to know best – how communicators can learn more about the enterprise technology industry!
